Barry Fuller has experienced Gillingham winning a play-off final before and so knows all about the importance of togtherness, whether it's as a fan or as a player of the club.

Ashford-born Fuller was in the crowd when Gillingham won the 2000 League 1 play-off final against Wigan in one of the last games at the old Wembley.

On Saturday he will be hoping to follow the example of Peter Taylor's side when the team he captains take on Shrewsbury in the League 2 showdown at the new Wembley.

Hear Barry Fuller give his thoughts about leading the Gills out at Wembley.

"I’ve always been a follower of Gillingham and when I was a kid I would always look at their results," he said.

"I was one of those who went to Wembley in 2000 and that was a great day out and to be the club captain for your local team is a great honour especially to lead them out at Wembley."

Fuller believes the togetherness of the current squad has been a big factor in the club getting where they are now.

"We all get on and there are a good group of lads here," he said.

"It doesn’t matter who you sit with or who you spend time with you know you are going to have a laugh and everyone is together.

"It doesn’t matter what team sport you do, if you haven’t got team spirit you won’t go anywhere."
