Barry Fuller has a week and a half left of his Gillingham contract and appears on course to earn himself a new one.
Manager Martin Allen has been impressed with what he has seen of the former Gills captain during the opening fortnight of pre-season training.
Fuller (pictured) is returning from a serious injury that saw him miss the majority of last season’s campaign. He underwent an operation in November to repair his cruciate knee ligament.
A contract was offered to Fuller (pictured) before Allen’s arrival but nothing has been signed so far and the new manager will assess the situation
again at the end of the
month.
Allen said: "Barry Fuller has completed every training session and played in our first pre-season game against Dagenham & Redbridge. He came through with flying colours.
"I have got to know him well and he is a good character and person. He has done well. His contract ends at the end of this month and we have said to Barry that we will see how he is at the end of the month."
