Gillingham captain Barry Fuller believes the team are ready to dish out a hiding.
A month into the season and the Gills have yet to win but the fired-up captain is sure the wait will soon be over – and he’s hoping the first win will come in style.
Fuller will be making his 100th appearance for the Gills at Bury on Saturday and he’s hoping it’s an occasion worth remembering.
He said: "When you look at the performances we’ve put in this year, we’ve played really well.
"It’s frustrating because we’re creating so many chances and haven’t had that rub of the green in front of goal.
"I feel sorry for the team that are going to get a pummelling. Hopefully, that will come on Saturday."
The Gills began the season aiming for League 2 promotion and, despite a stuttering start, that remains firmly on the agenda.
"Promotion was our own target before anyone put any pressure on us," said Fuller.
"We feel that we have a great squad. It would be disappointing if we weren’t creating chances and coming to teams and not performing well but we are doing that."
Ashford-based Fuller is delighted to have reached the 100-game milestone.
He said: "If someone had told me I would play 100 times for a big club, my local club Gillingham, I would have bitten their hand off. I have been lucky to do that and hopefully there will be many more in the future."
