David Hasselhoff and other stars meet staff and youngsters from the Prince of Wales Youth Club
A Canterbury youth club has landed itself an unlikely benefactor - former Baywatch hearthrob David Hasselhoff.
The celebrity named the Prince of Wales Youth Club as his official charity for his tour following a show at the 02 Indigo when youngsters and staff went up to meet him.
The association came about because panto producer Kevin Wood, who has worked with 'The Hoff', is a member of the youth club's committee.
Club dance teacher Shane Knight has also been dancing in the show, called An Evening with David Hasselhoff.
Staff and young people from the club presented Hasselhoff with a good luck message, which featured the club's emblem.
He said: "I am delighted to be supporting the Prince of Wales Youth Club in Canterbury and had a great time meeting some of the young people and staff. I believe the youth centre does a great deal with helping young people and wish it all the success."
Centre co-ordinator Joey Wicks said: "It is fantastic news that David Hasselhoff has agreed that we will be his offical charity for his tour.
"He has already been working with one of our ex-youth workers and young people from the centre, Shane Knight who has now become a professional dancer."
Shane, 22, whose parents live in Dover, first started attending the club after learning dance when he was 10 and has appeared in several pantomines at the Marlowe Theatre.
