POLICE are investigating a road accident which claimed the life of a motorcyclist.

The tragedy happened at the junction of Dover Road and Thames Way in Northfleet on Sunday. The bike rider, from Dunstable in Bedfordshire, died at the scene.

He was in collision with a car driven by a man from Northfleet who was taken to Darent Valley Hospital suffering from shock and minor injuries.

The dead man has not yet been formally identified. An inquest will be held.
