A young motorcyclist has died after crashing into a lamp post.

The 24-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, on the A228 at High Halstow, at about 3.30pm yesterday.

The biker, from the Dartford area, was travelling in the Rochester direction when the smash happened. No other vehicles were involved.

His bike, a Suzuki, is said have hit a kerb and left the road in Sharnal Street. The rider collided with the post.

Kent Police closed the road from Brittannia Street to Christmas Lane for more than five hours while they carried out investigations.
