Biker killed in 4-vehicle crash

A MOTORCYLIST died and a woman was seriously injured in a four-vehicle collision in a Kent village.

Police say the rider of a blue Kawasaki 600 ZZR motorcycle, a 41-year-old man from Ramsgate, was pronounced dead at the scene of the pile-up on the A257, Rusham Road, Wingham, near Canterbury, on Tuesday afternoon.

The female driver of a gold Toyota Corrolla, an 81-year-old woman from Sandwich, was trapped in her car and had to be freed by the Kent Fire and Rescue Service.

She was taken to QEQM hospital in Margate where her condition is said by police to be "serious".

The rider of a blue Honda BCR 600 motorcycle was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries and the driver of the Ford Escort van did not sustain serious injuries.

The circumstances of the tragedy are being investigated by Kent Police's Serious Crash Investigation Unit (SCIU).
