Biker seriously hurt in crash

A 17-year-old motorcyclist suffered serious head injuries after being thrown from his machine.

Police say the motorbike struck a female pedestrian at the High Street junction with Queen’s Road in Broadstairs shortly after 9.45pm on Monday.

Paramedics and a fire rescue team from the Thanet station at Broadstairs were called to the scene and police cordoned off nearby roads.

An inquiry has been launched by officers from the Kent Police's serious crash investigation unit. Any witnesses are asked to contact 01622 798538.

Police believe the female pedestrian was not seriously hurt.
