A motorcyclist was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after he was involved in a crash with a car in Tonbridge.

The accident happened at around 1.15pm Wednesday in The Ridgeway, near the junction with Ely Gardens and involved a green Renault Clio and a red Triumph motorbike.

Kent Air Ambulance was scrambled to the scene to take the victim, who had suffered serious injuries, to hospital.

The male driver of the car was not hurt.

The road was closed while emergency services dealt with the aftermath and motorists were advised to avoid the area.
