On-loan Gillingham striker Andy Pugh scored a spectacular 30-yard goal as Welling produced their best performance of the season in Blue Square South on Saturday.
Pugh, pictured, scored the third goal, eight minutes into the second half, as the Wings ran riot with an impressive display of attacking football.
The youngster has extended his loan for a third and final month and will surely have no shortage of offers come the summer if the Gills decide to release him.
Welling had already seen a goal disallowed for offside when they took a fourth-minute lead as Tommy Whitnell forced the ball over the line after Lee Clarke's low shot had been blocked.
Pugh then shot wide and hit the post before Whitnell fired over as Welling's attacking movement was a delight to watch. Keeping the ball on the ground, they left their opponents trailing and finally got the goals they deserved in the second half.
Alex Bentley tripped Pugh in the box and Clarke tucked away the spot-kick after 49 minutes to make it 2-0.
Pugh should have won a second penalty a minute later but somehow the referee gave a free-kick against the striker.
Once Pugh scored the goal of the game, Clarke somehow fired over from close range and the impressive Sam Hurrell was denied a deserved goal by keeper Nicky Eyre after a dazzling run from the halfway line.
From the resultant corner, however, Jack Parkinson headed in at the far post to make it 4-0 with nine minutes left.
There was still time for on-loan Charlton youngster Carl Jenkinson to head wide from close range, while the hosts finally forced Welling keeper into action in the final minute when he tipped over Bertie Brayley's effort.
Former Welling striker Charlie Sheringham, who quit the Wings in the summer, played 90 minutes against his former side but was kept quiet by Parkinson and Graeme Andrews.
Bromley v Newport County
Bromley produced a valiant second half fightback, but it wasn't enough to take anything from their clash with runaway Blue Square South leaders Newport County at Hayes Lane.
Sam Foley netted the winner for County in the 70th minute after the visitors had let a 2-0 lead slip.
Paul Cochlin headed Newport in front on 20 minutes when he headed in a corner and they were unlucky not to go 2-0 up 12 minutes later when Craig Reid's cross came off Rob Gilman before striking the post.
However, it was 2-0 in the 53rd minute when Gareth Williams produced two fine saves only to see the second rebound fall kindly to Charlie Henry to sweep home.
Ryan Hall pulled one back just after the hour mark when he latched onto a through ball and beat the advancing keeper, before Warren McBean levelled matters on 65 minutes from Jerrome Sobers' flick on.
But it wasn't to be for the Lillywhites as Foley was destined to have the final word.
Waltham Abbey v Cray Wanderers
Cray Wanderers moved up the Ryman League Premier Division table with a 1-0 win at basement side Waltham Abbey.
The only goal of the game came after just six minutes when Leigh Bremner finished well.
Cray should have extended their lead before half-time but had plenty of defending to do after the break.
Waltham Abbey ended the match with 10 men after the dismissal of defender Dave Ayers.
