Salahuddin Amin plotted to blow up Bluewater

A terrorist convicted of plotting to kill thousands of people at Bluewater has reportedly launched a bid to clear his name on human rights grounds.

Salahuddin Amin is attempting to have his conviction quashed along with another Al Qaeda terrorist, according to a national newspaper.

The pair are said to have applied to the European Court of Human Rights after claiming MI5 was involved in their torture by Pakistani security services.

It would be the first time the Strasbourg court would have to decide on a point of fact rather than legal procedure.

Amin was jailed for life in 2007 for his role in a plot to detonate a massive fertiliser bomb at Bluewater shopping centre, in Greenhithe, or at London’s Ministry of Sound nightclub.

He alleges Pakistani security agents used pliers to remove three of his fingernails.

Amin’s lawyers claim British authorities knew evidence had been obtained through torture, something already rejected by British courts.

The second terrorist is Rangzieb Ahmed, who was at the centre of Al Qaeda’s global network. He also alleges Britain was complicit in his torture.
