Hundreds of fans queue at
Margate Winter Gardens
Fans of Britpop legends Blur have camped out overnight as
tickets for the iconic band's summer gig went on sale this
morning.
Hundreds of people queued at the Winter Gardens box office
in Margate from the early hours.
Just 300 tickets went on general sale at 9am for the
concert on August 1.
They could only be bought in person or by phoning the venue -
catching out many people who tried to get them online.
Some fans were left angry after reporting being unable to
get through on the phone as the lines were "constantly
engaged".

Among those to camp out for tickets from 3.30am was a man called
Adam - who managed to buy two tickets.
He said: "There were already people queuing when I got here. A
few of us were nutty enough to have the same idea.
"It's going to be a big gig, but to see them in such a small
venue and I believe it's the first warm-up gig before they do the
big tour so they're going to be right up for it. It's going to be a
good night. I'm really looking forward to it."
The show is just one of four warm-up gigs before
Blur's Olympic closing ceremony show.
Tickets were expected to be "like gold dust", according to
the venue's entertainments and facilities manager Paul Palmer.

Mr Palmer said: "The Blur show is a huge vote of confidence
in the Winter Gardens; to be asked to host the gig rather than
having to pitch for a date means that word is getting through that
we are a very good date for bands.
"It is the very last big gig in the centenary year of the Winter
Gardens, what a way to celebrate our fantastic 100th
anniversary."
Pre-sale tickets went on offer to registered fans on Wednesday.
Then just 300 tickets, costing £35, went on sale via telephone
or in person at the box office today.
The band members - Damon Albarn, vocals; Alex James, bass;
Graham Coxon, guitar; and David Rowntree, drums - struck gold with
a series of highly-rated pop rock songs including Girls and Boys,
Song 2, Park Life, and Country House.
After a split during which Albarn had huge success with the
Gorillaz project and James became know as a cheese producer, Blur
reformed in 2009 to wild acclaim and sell-out shows.
As well as Margate, the band will also play Wolverhampton and
Plymouth in early August before their Hyde Park gig to mark the
closing ceremony of the London 2012 Games.
