Boat damaged in marina blaze

A BOAT went up in flames just a few hours after being moored at Medway Maritime Marina by its owner.

Firefighters from Medway were called to the marina near St. Mary’s Island, Chatham, at 7.45pm on Saturday night.

The 30ft luxury cabin cruiser had not long returned from a day out on the water when the fire broke out.

The interior of the boat suffered 50 per cent fire damage. It is believed an electrical fault started the fire.

Nobody was injured.

Marina managers prevented two other boats from being damaged by moving them as soon as the blaze broke out.
