A body has been recovered from the River Medway at East Farleigh just south of Maidstone this morning (Saturday)

It was spotted by a member of Maidstone Rowing Club at around 11.20am who alerted the police.

A Kent police spokesman said the body was partially decomposed and it was not immediately apparent whether it was a man or a woman.

There were no immediate grounds to suspect foul play. The body has been taken to Allington to be examined by a Home Office pathologist.
