A body has been found in the River Medway.
Police were called to the riverside, at the back of the Malta Inn at about 11.30am today.
A member of staff from the Environment Agency, which is based at Allington Lock, said he had seen about 12 police officers in the area.
He said: “The body was reported by a member of the public and then I secured the site.
“The body was recovered by the police marine section.
“It was between Allington Lock and Allington Marina.”
He said he believed the body was male and owned a boat on the river.
A staff member at the Malta Inn said they were unaware that anything had happened.
