POLICE have confirmed that human remains and clothing found in Kent woodland are those of a missing mother.
Marion Arnold, a former school dinner lady, disappeared more than two years ago.
Officers were called to an isolated area on the edge of woodland at Chestfield, near Whitstable, on Monday, December 11, after her remains were found by a man out shooting pigeons.
The death is being treated as unexplained and police say there is no evidence to indicate that the cause is suspicious.
Mrs Arnold, who was a dinner lady at Whitstable Junior School, disappeared from her home in Vale Road in October 2004.
Two weeks before she had been diagnosed with dystonia, a neurological condition that makes it difficult for the sufferer to control their movements. It also causes disorientation and after her diagnosis Mrs Arnold rarely went out alone.
Last May, seven months after her disappearance, the body of her former husband, Graham, was found in woodland at nearby Tyler Hill. An inquest recorded a verdict of suicide.
Police say there was no evidence to suggest Mr Arnold had anything to do with his wife’s disappearance.
The couple’s teenage son is a pupil at Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School in Faversham.
The matter has now been passed to the coroner.
