The body of a man was found in Herne Bay Memorial Park on Saturday morning.

The discovery was made by a dog walker who called police to Spenser Road at around 7.30am.

Ambulance crews were also sent to the scene.

The park was sealed off around the Memorial Close to the changing rooms (pictures courtesy Peter Baxter).

Earlier, the entrances and exits to the park were also taped off and police surrounded the park.

Forensic officers also collected evidence shortly after the discovery.

Police confirmed later in the morning that the man's death is not being treated as suspicious.

One resident, whose property overlooks the park said: “I didn’t hear anything last night, but it was strange when I looked out of the window this morning and there were no dog walkers on the grass.

“Then I saw all the police cars and forensic teams in their white overalls.

“It is usually quite a safe area. We get the odd problems with anti-social behaviour and youths drinking, but this is a nice place to live."
