Bogus callers steal hundreds from woman in her 90s at Lydd home

A woman in her 90s has had hundreds of pounds stolen in a distraction burglary.

The victim was targeted by two men who called at her home in Brooks Way, Lydd, asking if she wanted her lawn cut.

Kent Police said after they left, at between 2pm and 3pm on Wednesday, she realised the cash had been taken.

One of the men is said to be white, with dark collar-length straight hair. He wore a white t-shirt and dark trousers. It is thought he may have been driving a dark Land Rover Discovery.

Kent Police asid people should not let anyone into their property unless the caller can provide valid identification.

Witnesses are asked to phone police on 101, quoting reference ZY/014149/12, or Kent CrimeStoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
