Bomb alert sparks shopping centre evacuation

PART of Bluewater was evacuated following a bomb scare on Tuesday afternoon.

Police were called to the shopping centre at 2pm after a suspect package was reported to staff by a member of the public.

The upper and lower levels of Thames Walk between Marks & Spencer and Boots were cleared and Army bomb disposal experts were called.

A police spokesman said:"A controlled explosion was carried out on the package, which was found to be harmless."
