Booze cruise or bust? Oz Clarke on how to get the best for your money across the Channel

With the credit crunch hitting home, many people are looking for cheaper ways to relax and enjoy themselves.

The traditional British booze cruise has long offered a way for people to stock up on wine and beers for private parties at an affordable rate.

However, an alternative is being put forward by local wine sellers and beer makers in the Pas de Calais region of northern France – who offer a little extra enjoyment at the same price.

kmfm’s Chris Price was took a tour of the region with SeaFrance and Kent’s own wine expert Oz Clarke, and learned that straying away from the big supermarkets at the French port can have some much more enjoyable - and economical - results.
