Boy, 15, dies crossing the road

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a 15-year-old boy was killed when he was struck by a car on the Canterbury Road at Chilham, near Canterbury. The teenager, who lived in the village, was struck by a maroon Ford Sierra being driven by a 56-year-old man from the Ashford area.

The tragedy happened at about 6.30pm on Wednesday night as the boy, who has not yet been named, crossed the road close to the Badgers Hill Farm Shop. Police say the car driver is not under arrest but the crash is being investigated.
