Boy, 9, in holiday ski tragedy

A SCHOOLBOY from Kent has died from head injuries sustained after his toboggan apparently veered out of control and into a ditch while he was on holiday at a ski resort in France.

The funeral of Harrison Horrell, who lived at Sheephurst Lane, Marden, near Maidstone, was held on Thursday.

The accident happened in the ski resort of La Tania, near Courchevel. Harrison was taken to hospital in Moutiers 15km away where he died.

The youngster was a pupil at Dulwich Preparatory School at Cranbrook. Head teacher Stephen Rigby said pupils and staff were "devastated".

He added: "Harrison was a bright, able boy with a very kind and caring attitude who will be sorely missed and had every prospect of a happy and successful future.

"He was one of those super children who loved coming to school and always had a smile on his face. We, as a school, are planning to do something to remember Harrison in the near future."

The tragedy happened on Saturday, December 29. Harrison’s family was too distressed to talk.
