Boy assaulted on dodgems at funfair

A BOY of 10 who was riding the dodgems at a funfair suffered a broken wrist after being assaulted by a man.

The boy was enjoying the rides at The Strand at Gillingham when the incident happened.

The youngsters was taken to hospital. The incident was not reported to Medway Police until after he was discharged. For this reason, the actual time of the assault, which happened last Tuesday, is not known.

Police are appealing for information. Anyone who may have been at the fair or may have seen something is asked to call PC Jo Paine on 01634 884071 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

* A 23-year-old man of no fixed home has appeared before Medway magistrates charged with causing grievous bodily harm. He is due to appear before the court again on Thursday, August 31.
