A BOY of 11 who suffered horrific burns when his mini-motorbike burst into flames has died in hospital four weeks after the tragic accident.
Michael Rickman, and another boy aged 12, were both seriously injured when they collided with a car in Ladywood Road, Darenth, near Dartford, on July 1. They were taken to a specialist burns unit in Essex.
Michael, who lived with his family in Coombfield Drive, Darenth, died at the weekend.
Michael was riding his mini-motorbike with the other boy as his pillion passenger when they were in collision with a black Ford Focus. The bike engine is thought to have exploded, seriously injuring both youngsters.
The boys were initially taken to Darent Valley Hospital at Dartford but later transferred to the St Andrew's Burns Unit at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford. The other boy, Michael Bonfield, remains seriously ill.
