Boy critically injured in crash

A BOY of six is in hospital with serious head injuries after the van in which he was a passenger was involved in a collision with a motorbike.

The boy, from Strood, is in a critical but stable condition at a specialist hospital in London. The crash happened on Sunday at about 11.10am.

A Honda motorcycle and a Vauxhall Astra van collided in Seven Mile Lane, Mereworth, near Maidstone.

The rider of the motorbike, a Maidstone man, was also badly injured and taken to Maidstone Hospital. The boy was airlifted to the hospital and later transferred to the London hosiptal. The driver of the van was not injured.

Maidstone and Malling police are appealing for witnesses to the crash to contact PC Tony Howland on 01622 608061.
