COUNCIL chiefs have apologised after a 16-year-old boy was placed in bed and breakfast accommodation under the same roof as registered child sex offenders.
The blunder was discovered by a worried mother whose son was told he must leave a bed and breakfast in Chatham with immediate effect earlier this month.
Other youngsters were also removed when late security checks on adult residents in the B&B found registered child sex offenders living at the address.
The B&B is used by social services to provide shelter for single mothers with children and young adults.
The 16-year-old Strood boy was living there temporarily while he searched for his own place.
His mother said: "I think it’s deplorable that they placed my son and other children in the same house as dangerous people who have committed sex offences against children."
A spokesman for Medway Council apologised for any distress caused and said there would be "a detailed review of procedures".
