THE new chicane at Dingle Dell on Kent's famous Brands Hatch circuit at West Kingsdown will be named Sheene’s Curve in memory of racing legend Barry Sheene who died last week.
The new, fast sweeping curve replaces the old Dingle Dell chicane on the Grand Prix circuit.
Michael Browning, managing director of circuit owners Octagon Motorsports UK, said: “Barry Sheene's first race was at Brands Hatch. We feel this is a fitting tribute to one of the best entertainers ever seen in the world of bike racing.”
Sheene died in Australia at the age of 52 following a long battle with cancer. He won the World Motorcycle Championships twice in the 1970s and was also famous for overcoming numerous crashes on the track.
