A man seriously injured during a mass brawl in Dartford has thanked the 21-year-old who may have saved his life.
The quick thinking actions of Peter Finch, who learnt basic first aid as a teenage Army cadet, has been praised by the emergency services after he helped a 20-year-old man who had suffered serious neck injuries.
About 20 people are thought to have been involved in the street fight in Dartford Road at about 2.30am on Saturday, January 8.
Mr Finch heard the commotion and went outside to see what was happening.
He quickly realised a man had been injured and rushed to help until the ambulance arrived and paramedics took over.
He said: "I've never seen anything like it but just knew to keep the pressure on it, having learnt some basic first aid with the Army cadets when I was 16 and also from hospital programmes."
The victim, from Bexleyheath, said Mr Finch had visited him in hospital, where he had a chance to say thank-you.
Anyone with information about the brawl should call police on 01474 366091 or Kent Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
Three teenagers from London, two aged 18 and one 19, were arrested, questioned and later bailed in connection with the serious assault.
