New research from Eurotunnel has found people are confused about how travelling to the EU from the UK will work after Brexit.

More than 2,000 people were surveyed, with 59% unsure about what will happen to their passports and almost 40% unclear about being covered by European Health Insurance Cards.

While half of people didn’t know if they will be able to take their pets with them. Owners are being advised to check pet passports are still valid with a vet.

Jae Hopkins, sales and marketing director for Eurotunnel, said: "I think the important thing is actually there aren't huge numbers of things people need to do differently to go on holiday next year.

"Our bookings and bookings in general for summer holidays next year are actually up, so Brits are obviously not being put off.

"They just want to know where to go for up-to-date information about anything that might change, post Brexit."

Around 40% percent also didn’t know if they will be able to drive in the EU on a UK driving licence.

Edmund King, president of the Automobile Association, said: "Currently we don’t know if we will need an International Driving Permit.

"It will depend whether the European Union actually recognises our current UK licence.

“But if you do need one, it won’t be too much of a hassle.

"You'll be able to go to the post office and pick one up there."
