Brian Miskin was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court

A pervert has been jailed for 15 years for sexual abuse of two girls dating back several years.

Brian Miskin, of Freemans Gardens, Chatham, admitted one offence of rape, eight of indecent assault and seven of indecency with a child involving one victim and one offence of indecent assault and one of indecency with a child involving the second victim.

Maidstone Crown Court heard that Miskin molested the first girl and made her touch him. He raped her when she was a teenager.

The 58-year-old also groped the second girl and got her to touch him.

Judge Michael Carroll said Miskin committed "a catalogue of abuse" against the vulnerable first victim, leaving her with extreme difficulties. The only mitigation was his guilty pleas.

"Remorse must be tempered with the fact you have had many years to come to terms with this, but remained silent," he said.

The judge added he took Miskin’s poor health into consideration in passing sentence.

Miskin’s name will appear on the sex offenders’ register for life.
