Young couple Ricky Chapman and Stacey Harbige couldn’t believe their eyes when they went to a new development in Ashford and found they could afford a house with three bedrooms.
Bus driver Ricky and accountant Stacey, both 24 had been living with family and were beginning to think they would never be able to afford to buy even the smallest home.
They are now settled in at their Woodstock house type, at the Taylor Wimpey’s Bridgefield development in Ashford, where three-bedroom homes start at £166,500.
The couple were helped by buying with the government-backed FirstBuy loan scheme, which meant they only needed to raise a 5% deposit.
Ricky said: “We were looking all around but we didn’t think we had saved enough. Then Stacey saw Bridgefield, so we popped to the show home and the rest is history.
“It’s a massive house for us and has a great location – straight in front of you as you drive into the close.
“The French doors from the living room and the kitchen will be great in the summer, as we can go straight to the garden. I love the space in the place.”
Bridgefield is in Cheeseman’s Green Lane, Ashford, and open seven days a week from 10am to 5pm. For information ring 0845 026 5654.
