On-loan duo Jo Kuffour and Frank Nouble will miss Gillingham’s FA Cup first round trip to Bournemouth on Saturday.

Kuffour, pictured, on loan from Bristol Rovers, and Nouble, of West Ham, have not been allowed to play by their parent clubs.

It means Danny Kedwell is likely to play as a lone striker at Dean Court as the Gills revert to the 4-5-1 formation that served them so well at the start of the campaign.

"We’ve not got permission for Jo or Frank to play unless that changes in the week," said Hessenthaler. "They would love to play but they are not our players, they are here on loan.

"We didn’t have either of those players at the start of the season but we won our first three games and drew the other in that shape that we played. It means that is the way we will go to Bournemouth and play.

"We’ve got (other) strikers as Dennis Oli is coming back and Stefan Payne is there so we will be able to cope with that."

The Gills will discuss Nouble’s availability and the possibility of a third and final month on loan at Priestfield with West Ham when the teams meet at Priestfield tomorrow (Tuesday) in a behind-closed-doors friendly.

Nouble’s current deal expires after the League 2 trip to Aldershot on November 19.
