Business studies students from Broadstairs are this week on a fact finding tour to Barcelona, one of the world’s busiest cities.
The party of 15 and 16-year-old BTec students from The Charles Dickens School have an intensive itinerary looking at the city’s commerce and economic development and regeneration on Monday, October 13.
They are visiting traditional businesses including a vineyard and a glass blowing works, touring the Siemens production centre which makes a range of consumer electrical goods and exploring the regeneration projects around the Port of Barcelona.
The area’s Stock Exchange, the Formula 1 circuit and the famous Nou Camp Stadium, home to Barcelona football club, regarded by many as the top club team in the world, are also on the schedule, as are the Sagrada Familia, Gaudi’s renowned unfinished cathedral and the Las Ramblas shopping area.
Keith Ogg, the school’s vocational co-ordinator, said: "This is an intensive visit aimed at showing business studies students the different types of commerce in a major capital city, from traditional trades to sport and leisure to e-commerce."
The school’s art students have made regular visits to the city in recent years.
