A broken-down bus caused traffic chaos for motorists this morning.

The double decker bus broke down on the A249 Sheppey bound carriageway just past the Stockbury roundabout at 6.21am.

It led to tailbacks on both the London bound and coastbound carriageways of the M2 as drivers tried to exit at junction 5 to join the A249.

Police were called to the scene to divert the traffic around the broken down bus and arrangements were made for it to be recovered.

The road was cleared by 8.50am.
