Maidstone United produced a hard-working display to knock Blue Square South side Bromley out of the FA Trophy at Hayes Lane on Saturday.
Shannon O'Donovan scored the winner after just 14 minutes when he retrieved James Pinnock's deep cross and fired an angled effort beyond keeper Gareth Williams and into the far corner.
Bromley's best chance of the first half came 10 minutes before the break when Jamie Turner did brilliantly to tip Ashley Carew's deflected shot wide of the post.
Debutant Danny Hockton almost put the Stones 2-0 up on 78 minutes when he latched onto a Jay Saunders pass but Williams denied him with a fine save.
The Lillywhites should have snatched a replay five minutes from time but substitute Adrian Stone contrived to shoot wide with Turner stranded and the goal at his mercy.
Ashford Town (Middlsex) v Cray Wanderers
Two goals in six first half minutes did the bulk of the damage as Cray Wanderers fell to a Ryman League Premier Division defeat at Ashford Town (Middlesex).
Brian Haule gave the home side the lead in the 33rd minute before Warren Harris netted on 39 minutes after a good passing move.
Cray had their chances but they were finally killed off in the 75th minute when John Guest headed a corner into his own net.
