Goals either side of half-time by Theo Fairweather-Johnson and skipper Lee Clarke helped Welling move up to third in Blue Square Bet South on Saturday.
Bromley embraced Non-League Day and also staged a kick racism out of football initiative but they failed to deliver in front of a bumper 1,334 crowd - the majority of whom took advantage of an earlybird admission offer.
Welling dominated the early stages and could have gone ahead as Joe Healy's shot was saved by keeper Joe Welch and Ross Lafayette was denied by an excellent Jerome Sobers block.
The visitors lost Jack Obersteller to injury but it did not affect their flow, although Kiernan Hughes-Mason could only find the side-netting after he exchanged passes with Lafayette.
Welling's pressure was rewarded 10 minutes before half-time when a powerful run by Fairweather-Johnson ended with the ball finally falling to the feet of Lafayette. His pass sent Healy clear and he cut back and put a chance on a plate for Fairweather-Johnson to tap into an empty net.
Bromley had their best spell just before half-time. Keeper Sam Mott was out smartly to deny Michael Boateng and then only the offside flag denied Michael Malcolm an equaliser after good work by skipper Ali Fuseini.
Welling doubled their lead two minutes after the break when Healy's free-kick found the feet of Clarke and his low shot was deflected past the despairing Welch.
Again, Bromley hit back but Anthony Acheampong cleared off the line and Richard Pacquette could only find the woodwork from the rebound.
Welling had chances to increase their lead, the most notable coming 16 minutes from the end when Lafayette headed wide from a corner.
