A stunning one-handed injury-time save by keeper Wes Foderingham preserved Bromley's 100 per cent start in Blue Square Bet South on Saturday.

Their 2-1 derby win over previously-unbeaten Welling had seemed a formality after two second-half goals by Warren McBean.

But Ben Billings headed in from close range and fellow substitute Femi Omogbehin's header looked to have snatched a point until Foderingham somehow clawed the ball away.

It was a brilliant stop by the on-loan Crystal Palace keeper who was rarely troubled throughout the 90 minutes.

The same could be said of his Welling counterpart Charlie Mitten during the opening hour.

Chances were at a premium in the first half with the most excitement coming when Jack Parkinson and Bromley's Salifou Ibrahima were both cautioned after an off the ball incident.

Ibrahima was then lucky to stay on the pitch two minutes after the break as his crunching challenge on Jamie Day somehow went unpunished. Not surprisingly, Bromley decided to substitute the central midfielder shortly afterwards.

Bromley took the lead in the 64th minute when McBean raced clear and finished emphatically past Mitten for his third goal of the season.

The striker did not have long to wait for his fourth, slotting in from close range in the 71st minute after excellent work by Ryan Dolby.

The game appeared all over but substitute Tom Whitnell crossed for Billings to head in and then the latter's cross a minute later was met by Omogbehin but Foderingham was up to the challenge.

Welling host Lewes on Bank Holiday Monday while leaders Bromley will look to make it six wins out of six at Bishop's Stortford.
