THE devastated brother of a man killed in a car accident has spoken of his grief - while revealing that his sibling did not have a full driving licence.

Lee Waite died after the car he was driving was involved in an accident on Southborough Lane, Bromley, on Sunday, February 10.

Six other teenagers, including four 15-year-old girls, were in Waite’s Mini at the time of the accident and police are looking into the 21-year-old’s driving qualifications.

His brother Jamie Waite said: "He had lots of friends and everyone loved him because he treated them as part of the family.

"I have been to the flowers every day since he died and there is always someone coming to visit or putting down new ones.

"I have had so many phone calls and text messages since his death that it hasn’t had time to sink in yet. None of his friends can believe it either."

The 24-year-old added: "He was a good footballer when he was younger and he liked all the other things that 21-year-old’s normally like. He was a funny person and I looked up to him like he was my older brother."

Mr Waite said he didn’t think that his brother had a full driving licence when his car crashed into a tree in the early hours of the morning.

He said: "He didn’t have a driving licence. He had driving lessons when he was younger but he was a very safe and careful driver.

"It doesn’t matter about all that now, I am more worried that I have lost my brother. Our family has always been close and we are even closer now this has happened.

"Lee wouldn’t want me to grieve for too long, he’d want me to carry on and be strong.

"It is too late to do anything about his licence now, although I know he was trying to get his life back on track and had the car up for sale.

"He knew what he wanted to do with his life and this is such a tragedy. It feels like a film and I keep thinking I’m going to wake up and it will all be a dream."
