Brutal attacker 'has not shown a minute's remorse'

A MAN jailed for life for brutally stabbing and sexually assaulting a teenage girl "got what he deserved" according to his victim's father.

Peter Anscombe, 28, of Millfields Cottages, St Paul's Cray, was told he must serve a minimum of seven years as he was sentenced at the Old Bailey on Friday.

He attacked 17-year-old Carley Furness, who waived her right to anonymity, as she walked to work through Priory Gardens, Orpington, on a Saturday morning last September.

She was grabbed from behind and forced to the floor where her clothes were ripped off. She was stabbed in the stomach, sexually assaulted and then stabbed in the throat.

Following sentencing, Carley's dad, Gary Furness, said: "He's got what he deserved and I hope that he never comes out. I don't think he's fit to walk the streets. It was a perverted act and a cowardly act."

Jailing him, Judge Anthony Morris, said: "You have not shown a minute's remorse for what you did."

A jury at the Old Bailey found Anscombe guilty last month of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent, sexual assault and common assault.

Anscombe had pleaded not guilty to the charges.
