Building badly damaged in blaze

An office used by contractors building a new school has been severely damaged by fire.

Four fire crews fought the blaze in the two-storey prefabricated building on the former Oldborough School site, in Boughton Lane, Loose, Maidstone, which started at just after 9pm Friday.

Two crews were initially called but two more were sent when the extent of the fire became clear. Two hydrants and a water shuttle were used to fight the fire.

The blaze was extinguished by midnight. The cause is being investigated.

Work has just begun on the site to build the NLL Academy. A spokesman for New Line Learning said the building was used by contractors and did not affect any school buildings.
