Bunker plans go on show

Plans for the former RAF Ash Radar Station have gone on show.

A public consultation event is being held at the village hall on Tuesday, July 15, giving information on proposals to extend the existing data storage centre at the former nuclear bunker.

The drop-in event will be attended by members of the project team but there is also the chance to view the plans in the village hall this week.

The site is owned by The Bunker and Pete Stockall is the town planning consultant for the company.

He said: “The proposed new buildings will use the latest technology in construction techniques to integrate the new facility into the existing landscape through the use of grass roofs.

“New jobs will be created and the project is expected to create widespread economic benefits to the east Kent economy, whilst raising the profile of the area and attracting world class businesses to the county.”

The drop-in event is from 2pm to 6.30pm at the library in the village hall.

“This event is being held to engage and inform the local community prior to the submission of a planning application to the district council later this year,” said Mr Stockall.

The Bunker has operated from the former Ash Radar Station since 2004 where they provide a high tech secure electronic data storage service for a variety of clients within the site’s former nuclear bunker.
