THE Easter weekend is the busiest period in the point-to-point calendar, both locally and nationally.
The Ashford Valley hold their fixture at Charing on Easter Saturday, starting at 12.45pm. The meeting starts with two races for ponies. The main races start at 2pm and with a good entry, there should be some competitive finishes. With three meetings over the weekend, many owners have entered their horses in at least two, leaving their options open until the last moment, so forecasting winners is even more tricky.
The meeting is likely to attract a huge crowd and early arrival is recommended to avoid long queues. Entrance by car with all occupants costs £15, £20 and £25, with £5 for pedestrians, which includes a race card.
The East Kent Hunt have their fixture at Aldington on Monday, starting at 2pm. This popular course has the largest entry of all three meetings, and good fields are anticipated. Entrance by car will cost £18, and pedestrians the usual £5.
Monday's meetings include the Southdown and Eridge, which will be held at their new course at Godstone, just off the M25 junction 6, starting at 2pm. Charges are £15 and £20, with £5 for pedestrians. An additional exit gate has been organised, which will help speed up leaving the course after racing.
