THEY may have long disappeared from the High Street, but shops from Whitstable’s past have been recreated in the town centre.

Visitors to the museum can step back in time and browse shop fronts from days gone by in a special exhibition.

Shop Talk was officially launched on Friday with a tea party to thank the dozens of people who contributed to the display with mementos and memories.

The exhibition was the result of a two-year project by the town’s oral history group, who conducted hours of interviews for research.
