DEBBIE GRIGGS: expecting a baby when she vanished

DETECTIVES have renewed their appeal for information about a missing woman on the seventh anniversary of her disappearance.

Debbie Griggs, a mother of three, who was four-and-a-half-months pregnant at the time she went missing, was last seen in May 1999 leaving the family home in Walmer, near Deal.

The family car, a white “G” registration Peugeot 309, was found abandoned in Walmer shortly afterwards. There have been no further sightings of Debbie, who was 34 and described as white, 5ft 8ins tall with fair hair cut in a bob style when she went missing.

Det Chief Insp Dean Barnes of Kent Police’s major crime department said: "Despite the significant efforts and numerous enquiries by Kent Police to trace Debbie and establish what happened to her, we have yet to determine the truth.

"The response from the public over the years has been very good, but perhaps understandably, with the passage of time, this response grows less each year.

“I am still convinced that someone has information that could lead us to the truth. If that person is reading this I would appeal directly to them. Debbie’s parents and remaining family have lost someone very loved and dear to them, but we must also not forget the loss of the baby Debbie was carrying.

“Anyone with any information concerning Debbie’s disappearance is urged to come forward and speak in confidence to the police."

Anyone with information is asked to telephone Kent Police on 01622 654852.
