The Viking cancer care unit at the Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital has been shortlisted for an architecture award.
The unit, which was officially opened last year after volunteers helped raise more than £1million, is one of just eight buildings across the south east shortlisted for this year’s Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) awards.
Twenty-three projects in the region, which covers Kent, Surrey, Sussex, Guernsey and Jersey, were entered and the final eight selected following visits by members of the judging panel.
The RIBA award winners in the region will be announced on May 29 and will then be entered in the national awards being judged on June 27.
