Cannabis factory found after neighbours' tip-off

Eagle-eyed community members have been praised by police who discovered a cannabis factory in Ramsgate following a tip-off.

Neighbourhood officers were alerted to suspicious activity at a three-storey property in Eastern Road on Wednesday afternoon.

Sergeant Sue Groombridge and her team found the property had an insecure door, a smashed window and noticed a pungent smell of cannabis, so they searched the property.

They found more than 150 cannabis plants in various stages of growth, alongside electric lamps and other equipment. A fully-grown plant has an estimated street value of £250.

The property was empty and no arrests were made.
