A Canterbury man has been warned he faces a jail sentence after driving dangerously.
Hal Hilton has two previous convictions for drink driving, Canterbury Crown Court was told.
Now the 45-year-old was been told by the judge: "You have been convicted by the jury on the clearest evidence of dangerous driving.
"You are in serious danger of going inside."
Hilton, of Herne Bay Road, Broad Oak, had denied the offence claiming that another friend was at the wheel of his VW Polo.
Prosecutor Sarah Harris said: "At about 6.30pm on April 16 last year, PC Lara Connor was on mobile patrol near Northdown Road in Margate. She noticed the car in front of her was a silver VW containing two people.
"She accelerated to make ground on the vehicle and as she did so it accelerated away from her."
The officer put on the blue flashing light and began chasing Hilton who was doing about 60mph, she added.
"There then followed a chase - caught on CCTV - driving at high speeds through residential areas, including Wilderness Hill.
"At another point the VW went down a no-entry road, with a children's playground on it, and over a junction causing a car to swerve.
"The car eventually span out of control - and the two men inside ran off. The officer managed to grab the driver and he was arrested."
Hilton denied being the driver and claimed the police officer put the car keys inside his jacket.
He claimed another friend, now living in North Cyprus, was at the wheel of the vehicle.
Hilton, who also faces other motoring charges, including driving under the influence of alcohol, was remanded on bail until September 10, when he will be sentenced.
But the judge, Recorder Andrew Popat imposed an interim driving ban, telling Hilton: "You have previous convictions for driving with excess alcohol and I take a serious view of this. You may very well go inside."
