Captain Barry Fuller ready to return for Gillingham's busy Easter schedule

Barry Fuller could return for Gillingham over the Easter weekend but boss Mark Stimson has indicated that Stuart Lewis’ position at right-back could still be safe.

Lewis has performed well since replacing Gills skipper Fuller (pictured), who has been absent with a broken arm and Stimson could have a role for Fuller elsewhere in the team.

Stimson said: "Barry Fuller is chomping at the bit to get back involved and he should be back some time next weekend.

"Stuart has played well but Barry can play in other positions as well. He hasn’t played many other positions here (at Gillingham) but he can so there might be another position for him to take up."

Fuller was keen to play for Gillingham’s reserves on Wednesday afternoon but Stimson is reluctant to use him.

"He is asking to play but I don’t think I’m going to risk him," said Stimson. "I know when he plays how he plays. Over next weekend we’re going to need him because we have two important games in three weeks.

"He will join in training on Monday and the others better watch out because he hasn’t been able to kick anyone for the last three or four weeks. If someone has more than two touches they are probably going to get it!

"His fitness levels are fantastic and the kid has so much passion in his body it is frightening."
