Car bursts into flames on M2

Motorists suffered delays on the M2 when a car caught alight this afternoon.

Emergency services were called at about 12.30pm after the vehicle burst into flames between the Chatham and Strood junctions of the London-bound carriageway.

Firefighters from Medway station put out the flames.

The driver is thought to have suffered only minor injuries.

A Kent Police spokesman said: "South East Coast Ambulance Service, were also called to the scene to treat a man. The road was cleared by 1.30pm."
