Car skids into M2 crash barrier

Firefighters were called out to the M2 on Thursday night after a car skidded in the snow and smashed into the crash barrier close to the Gillingham services.

A crew from Medway fire station was called out to the London-bound carriageway at about 11pm.

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said: “The driver had managed to get out of his car, which was half on and half off the crash barrier.

He was not seriously injured and we made sure the scene was safe by disconnecting the car’s battery.

“We were not on the scene for very long.”
